A year later

Yep, a year or so later, times did changed. I got a new job. Homer Simpson, welcome to a better world. :)

Moving On...

There comes a thing when the ugly head of strategic re-organizations turns your way. Or, in fact, in the way of your department. This happens to your friends mostly, but this time, it is our department turn. This has started with our general manager's office being emptied in front of our awed faces. Rumors are not good, and our trusty crystal ball did indeed see this, and more nefarious activities, coming our way.

This is why I am now starting to look once more for a better place. A place with a clear and promising future. I have a family to take care of, and I have to be responsible: hence, start to look now.

If you have a hint, send it my way :)

Travel Guide To China!

Hello,

This is my first Blog entry ever.
So please indulge the inadequacies that may emerge in the following sentences...

I thought that as I am finishing a four months trip to China, I should give away a quick & dirty Travel Guide to china. So here it is.

In China, when you step out the major cities, there are no:

     - Sitting Toilets!        -> they have a white ceramic hole in the floor;
     - Toilet Paper!          -> you are expected to bring your own there;
     - Coffee!                  -> word of advice, fill up before you go to China;
     - Decent Milk!           -> fresh milk  like we have home is unavailable;
     - USA Junk Fook!     -> It will come to a hotel near you in the near future;

On the other hand, in China, there are:

    - Real Chinese Buffets   -> Be prepared, it is delicious beyond what you expect;
    - Scenary                        -> As beautiful as it is contrasting to our scenary;
    - Rally Highways!            -> Boy, you have no idea what it's really like here...

The superficiality of the differences stated here reflects the actual lack of real differences to be found by me, in this time period, as to be quite frank, the cultural differences are not in any way a roadblock to harmonious communications if you are a well mannered person, and thus understanding between parties is natural and based on similar ideas and expression methods -which are, fortunately for me, universal!

My recommendation:

Before you go to China, read a lot of books about it's history and culture. Otherwise, you'll end up like a caveman visiting the smithsonian: you won't have a clue!

Best regards,

Antoine
